Education

1986-1989: GCE ‘O’ Levels, St. Patrick’s Secondary, distinctions in English, History & Bible Knowledge.

1990-1991: GCE ‘A’ Levels, Temasek Junior College with A1 in General Paper.

1994-1997: Diploma in Mass Communications, Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Electives: Advanced Television Production, Computer Graphics and Animation, Advanced Radio Production & Multimedia.

1997-1998: Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies, Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. Distinctions in Film and Television Language and Australian Film & High Distinctions in Asian and Latin American Cinema & Australian Television. Other subjects included Media Industries and Issues, Television Cultures, Film and Television Genres & New Media Technologies.

Awards

1986: Awarded Certificate of Merit for superior work in the field of English Language.

1987: Awarded Certificate of Merit for superior work in the field of English Language and Literature.

1988: Awarded Certificate of Merit for superior work in the field of Chess: (National B Division 3rd Place).

1989: Awarded Certificate of Merit for superior work in the field of Chess: (12th position in National Schools U-16 Championship).

1989: Awarded Certificate of Merit for superior work in the field of Chess: (4th position in National Inter-Schools Upper Secondary Championship).

1995: Awarded Consolation Prize for International Year of the Family Short Film Competition (Drama Category).

Work Experience

January 1992 - June 1994: Served National Service as a Combat Medic. Job included administrative work at the medical centre, handling sick patients and conducting emergency medical procedures.

May - June 1995: Production Assistant Intern at MTV Asia under the Vacation Training Programme. Job included administrative work, writing scripts, and co-producing a Video Jockey segment. Learnt about different recording formats, studio production and broadcasting facilities.

May - June 1996: HTML editor for the Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS). Job included updating the main TCS web-site, image-scanning and HTML authoring.

November - December 1996: Props Assistant at Zhao Wei Films for the production of "12 Storeys". Job included acquiring and handling of props and wardrobe, assisting in art direction and continuity, and monitoring the video assist. Learnt about the logistics and requirements of actual filming on location.

September 1997 - June 1998: Freelance Video Documentation and Editing for the Brisbane City Council. Job included filming and editing on a project basis.

Since 1997: Video crew at City Harvest Church on a volunteer basis. Job includes handling broadcast quality Betacam SP cameras as well as helping to set up a production studio.

Since 1994: Freelance Video Documentation and Editing for Aucar Consultants, an interior design firm. Job included the filming of interiors before and after designing as well as presentations for clients.

September 1998 – January 2000: Film, video and multimedia/website editor at Shaw Organisation. Job included marketing, promotions and advertising. Edited television trailers for Shaw movies. Also learnt about LED board technology and operated the Shaw House LED Board.

January - February 2000: Media Specialist and Webmaster at Hotspots.com. Job includes HTML coding and assisting in the actual design and development of the web-site. Other responsibilities include streaming of video through the internet.

Since March 2000: Vision Executive at Worldmine.com.  Main responsibilities are filming and editing videos for streaming through the internet.  Job includes encoding video, research and acquisition of both hardware and software as well as assisting in conceptualisation of the web-site.

Major Projects

1995: Produced a 10-minute drama "A Family Christmas" for the International Year of the Family Short Film Competition. Job included filming and editing. Awarded Consolation Prize.

1996: Produced a 20-minute documentary "Lifeline" about Woodlands Home for the Aged. Job included filming and editing. Also wrote and edited the script. The Ministry of Community Development, Singapore, commissioned the documentary.

1997: Produced a web-site for Ngee Ann Polytechnic Mass Communications Department. Job included HTML authoring, image scanning, web-site design and layout.

1997: Produced a CD-ROM multimedia presentation "Absolute Substitute" on the local alternative music scene. Job included page design and layout, writing of articles, image scanning, and programming on Authorware 3.5.

1998: Produced a 20-minute documentary "Semarang Dancers in Brisbane" for the Brisbane City Council. Job included filming and editing. Documentary was about a cultural dance exchange between Indonesia and Australia.

1998- 2000: Produced and maintained the official Shaw Organisation web-site at http://www.shaw.com.sg

Other Projects and Activities

1995: Produced a music video ("Teenage Story") for local alternative band "The Padres".

1997: Produced a web-site for Paul Zach, Radio Heart DJ and Straits Times Columnist.

1997: Radio Presenter in Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s campus radio station, Radio Heatwave.

1998: Produced documentaries for Brisbane City Council (Wynnum Lantern Festival and Morningside Community Precinct).

1998: Filmed the Stones Corner fashion shows for the Brisbane City Council.

1998: Produced a montage introduction video sequence for Shaw Organisation.

1999: Produced a second montage introduction video sequence for Shaw Organisation.

1999: Produced a web-site promotional video sequence for Shaw Organisation.

1999: Produced a web-site for Knight IT Solutions Pte Ltd on a freelance project basis.

1999: Panasonic non-linear editing training in Osaka, Japan. Learnt to edit on the Panasonic AJ DE-77.

2000: Freelance editing for Shaw Organisation, edited three 15 second television commercials for television broadcast.
