The following poems were all
written by me, except for the last three.
They each express a different state of emotions in my life at various times of
trial,tribulation, love and despair.
However, through all this God has always been faithful and true and He has made us more
than conquerers in Him!
(Romans 8:37) God is good! His mercies endure forever!
Star
It was a night unlike any other
The sky couldn't have looked any darker
The dull night sky seemed dead & bare
There wasn't a trace of star anywhere
Frustration, confusion & bitterness
Had filled my heart with emptiness
My life seemed dead & bare, devoid of love
In despair I looked up to the heavens above
Through the darkest night a lone star flared
Penetrating the hurt, the sadness & despair
That lone star is you, my love so bright
The star that lights up my darkest night

Poet's Comments:
This is a poem dedicated to my ex-girlfriend.
We have since been separated but are still friends.
I think this poem speaks for itself.
Hope
All alone in the cold dark corner of my world I waited..
Confused, hurt and lonely, I hated
The thought of life now so sad
Without everything I once had
I knew I was drifting so far away
from the God I loved each passing day
All the joy, the peace and the love
seemed to have stopped flowing from above
After some time of anguish and despair
I realized that my life was going nowhere
Everything was going wrong without God's favour
Life without God is just one long hard labour
Like the Apostle Peter I had denied Jesus
But like the prodigal son I had forgiveness
Because of a Father's love and mercy
And the work on the Cross of Calvary
I was searching but did not know that I had found
Love so deep that it was utterly profound
I thought I lost it all when I left God Almighty
But did not know that He never left me

Poet'sComments:
I think this is my 'best' poem
because it is dedicated to the Big Guy Upstairs
and it is inspired by His love for me.
It was written when I returned to God
after some time of compromise.
God's grace is always sufficient for me.
(and you too!)
Life
Roller-blading at the East Coast
Melted cheese on a slightly browned toast
Wrigley's double-mint chewing gum
and the steadfast love of my very own mum.
Cute bunny rabbits and Forever Friends Bears
A loving family that's always there
Sweet and innocent babies at play
The brilliant sunrise of each new day.
The soothing waves of the deep blue sea
The breathtaking beauty of a Christmas tree
The romantic melody of a great love song
Wonderful days when nothing goes wrong.
The immense joy of God's salvation
The intense wonder of all creation
Not forgetting close friends that are true
who are nice people just like you.
Making the skies a little bluer
the day a little brighter
and life a whole lot happier!

Poet's Comments:
This is just a fun poem about friends
dedicated to a very good friend of mine.
Appreciate the blessings in life you have...
especially your friends.
Storms Of Life
an angry flash of lightning
a distant crash of thunder
a reminder of life's happenings
that often tear our lives asunder
dark forbidding clouds gather
on the horizon of your life
bleak & depressing weather
a reflection of troubles & strife
just when it seems it can't get any worse
torrents of rain begin to pour
life seems like an evil curse
like an apple rotten to the core
the rain pours down relentlessly
like the weight of all your troubles
you look on helplessly
as your monument of life turns to rubble
the rain pours on & on
you can't take it anymore
but a voice within tells you to be strong
and you decide to endure
the rain starts to stop
and the dark clouds appear to disappear
you hear the echo of the last raindrop
and life's horizon begins to clear
in the sky a rainbow starts to form
a multi-splendoured sign
that you have made it through another storm
because you refused to resign.

Poet's Comments:
This was written after I failed an exam
because I used a pen instead of a pencil.
I was really depressed.
Funny how sometimes it takes
pain and depression to inspire me.
This is dedicated to all those people
going through some storms in life.
(In the second last stanza,
the third line was originally
"Murphy's Law and Co. closes shop"
....my friends found this a bit corny
so it was changed...
talk about peer pressure!:)

I went to sleep that night
with my hand on my heart
but try as I might
I could not keep it from falling apart
A moment in time was all we had
but it was enough because we dared
to touch another in the heart
and simply let a friendship start
When you left that day I knew
you took a piece of me with you
there was an emptiness inside
that I simply could not hide
I went to sleep that night
with my hand on my heart
but try as I might
I could not keep it from falling apart

Poet's Comments:
This poem is yet untitled.
I wrote it in Australia for
a friend I just got to know.
It is quite a heart-breaking experience
when you just get to know someone
and the person leaves for another country.
Well, this is how I felt at that time.
(A Moment in Time?)
Out of the Darkness
I walked out of the darkness and into the light
turned and saw my friends still lost in the night
I tried to call out but they didn't hear
they seemed so lost and so unsure
I cried out to them to draw near
they seemed so lost in their own fear
In faith I got on my knees and began to pray
that they would begin to see the only way
I walked out of the darkness and into the light
and prayed for my friends still lost in the night
their eyes seemed empty but full of fear
I closed my eyes and began to hear
the cries of others lost in the night
the voice of a few without their sight
the frustration of some when nothing seems right
the despair of failure by one's own might
I walked out of the darkness and into the light
and looked for my friends still lost in the night
I prayed for them to be set free
I opened my eyes and began to see
the emptiness within filled with pain
the void of nothing that drives one insane
the broken heart that didn't mend
the broken spirit that couldn't stand
I walked out of the darkness and into the light
and prayed for my friends still lost in the night

THE LOVER
When blazing sunset glory paints the sky
And color, light and fire inflame the eye,
The Christ is courting,
Courting of His love.
When joyful dawn-winged birds on summer days
With sweetest music chant their Maker's praise,
The Christ with singing
Serenades His love.
When whispering wanton winds caress the trees
With silk soft susurrations in the leaves,
The Christ is calling,
Calling to His love.
When water waves and plays and spumes and foams,
And falls in lace-like tumbles down smooth stones,
The Christ is dancing,
Dancing for His love.
When storm gales howl and thunder tears the air,
And trembling Earth herself seems in despair,
The Christ is mourning,
Mourning for His love.
When rain to rainbow turns at touch of sun,
And leaf and web of diamonds bright are hung,
the Christ is weeping,
Weeping for His love.
When all is shrouded in such still, chill snow
That none believes spring's joy again will grow,
The Christ is waiting,
Waitng for His love.
In all He made, the Christ is come to woo,
Beseeching, yearning, weak with love for you.
Oh, Man! Will you not hear?
YOU are His love.

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round,
Or listened to rain falling on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight,
Or gazed at the sun fading into the night?
You better slow down, don't dance so fast,
Time is short, the music won't last.
Do you run through each day on the fly,
When you ask "How are you", do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores running through your head?
You better slow down, don't dance so fast,
Time is short, the music won't last.
Ever told your child, we'll do it tomorrow,
And in your haste not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die,
Cause you never had time to call and say "hi"
You better slow down, don't dance so fast,
Time is short, the music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere,
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It's like an unopened gift thrown away.
Life is not a race, so take it slower
Hear the music before the song is over.

What Christian Living is all
about...
Never again will I confess "I can't"...

who strengthens me."

but of power and love and discipline."

of faith. If I have faith as a mustard seed,
nothing shall be impossible to me."

"He made Him who knew no sin,
to be sin on my behalf,
that I might become the
righteousness of God in Him."
(2 Corinthians 5:21)
Never again will I confess confusion...
"For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.
